CONSPIRACY THEORY THREAD

If you use the word

“conspiracy theorist” to describe someone who questions a narrative...

... Or challenges an “expert”

Then YOU are the idiot.

You are probably
- Naive
- Ignorant of history
- Easily persuaded by mass media or celebrities

>>
The Term “Conspiracy Theory” is rumoured to have been Invented by the CIA In Order To Prevent Disbelief of Official Government Stories.

It is a perjorative term designed to immediately discredit, smear and shut down a theory.
The term #conspiracytheory is used to polarise the conversation rather than discuss the facts.

It is often used to shame people and enforce GROUPTHINK.
GROUPTHINK

“Groupthink requires individuals to avoid raising controversial issues or alternative solutions,

and there is loss of individual creativity,

uniqueness and independent thinking. “
GROUPTHINK

“The dysfunctional group dynamics of the "ingroup" produces an "illusion of invulnerability" (an inflated certainty that the right decision has been made).” >>
GROUPTHINK

“Thus the "ingroup" significantly overrates its own abilities in decision-making and significantly underrates the abilities of its opponents (the "outgroup")”
This leads us to manipulating the masses with the BINARY FALLACY.

It’s an easy game to polarise to groups and cause friction.
BINARY FALLACY

“The Binary Fallacy is the ingrained, mistaken notion that there are just two options in any given situation.”

Eg
Mask vs AntiMask

Vax be Antivaxx

Inclusive vs Racist

BLM vs ALM

Left vs Right

Climate change Vs science denier

And on and on it goes
BINARY FALLACY

The world is infinitesimally complex. Anyone who uses this fallacy is a moron who cannot comprehend nuance.

Sometimes they are led into this thinking by the press

Sometimes by themselves

The truth is there are ALWAYS more options, shades of gray and degrees
