Actual #mtgfinance tweet; Commander 2020 came out about 4 months ago (it feels like forever). I just spent 5k on more spec cards from the set; I'll cover all of them in the thread. (Disclosure, I have 200-400 copies of all of these, and some of them work better for my position)
Ajani Unyielding, Chandra Flamecaller, Jace Architect of Thought, Nahiri the Harbinger, Nissa Steward of Elements ($1)- this is a level 0 play; these are at the historical "bulk planeswalker" buy price - Casual Magic players are excited when they get a Planeswalker in a bulk lot.
One of the trends where I focus on is *unique effects* there's a couple cards like that - they're tricky to reprint and have high eventual overall demand.

Animist's Awakening - .45
Dismantling Wave - .6
Silent Arbiter - .5
Solemn Simulacrum - 1.1
Etali, Primal Storm ($1) got printed into oblivion this year. It started the year at almost $10 (our sale price). Theoretically WOTC won't keep printing this. We might see a Dino themed Commander deck soon. It's also very powerful for 60 card Casual Magic.
Propaganda ($3) was a $10 Magic card before the reprint, but was printed in 5 different sets. The double-tap in Mystery hurts, but as a unique effect, it'll come back into focus once supply starts to dry.
Fluctuator ($.45) WOTC has said Cycling is going to be a "deciduous" mechanic (appearing in sets but not every set). The power level is high, plus there was a casual deck that killed with Songs of the Damned and Consume Spirit from 15 years ago; plenty of room for innovation
The Locust God ($3.25) Card occupies a great space; Izzet colors that likes drawing cards. Hard to reprint (God status) and WOTC has been printing "Draw a card" on more cards then they used to. I don't think this one will go crazy, but I like having some.
Nesting Ground ($1.5) this is a colorless land with an ability that interacts with any counters in the game. Literally any. I actually went back and ordered more, since the ceiling for this card is so high.
Other cards I bought:
Hornet Queen ($.5)
Hungering Hydra ($.5)
Karametra, God of Harvests ($2.5)
Vastwood Hydra ($.35)

These just tend to have a lot of casual residual demand over time.
Other cards I like:
Gavony Township ($1)
Knight of the White Orchid ($1)
Thalia's Lieutenant ($.50)
Basically all of the lands for personal use
Why are these cards cheap? The pitch cards in the decks are extremely expensive; buylist is about $60 on the 5 (total.) With sets of 5 decks available wholesale for $110, a couple dealers cracked this product in high quantity. That puts way more downward pressure
than there should be on singles. Once the three or so dealers that opened this product in volume sell out (and distribution sells out) there's no inherent reason for these cards to stay cheap.
