Another term used to describe propaganda is disinformation. Disinformation is usually considered black propaganda because it is covert and uses false information.
In fact, the word disinformation is a cognate of the Russian dezinformatsia, taken from the name of a division of the KGB devoted to black propaganda.
And as it turns out, deza has been not rarely been quite the powerful tool, sadly, especially as part of concerted Active Measures efforts; after all, we only need look back to the 2016 U.S. election and it’s aftermath, and all these claims...
