Quick and dirty way to a more secure Zoom event:

1. have attendees register w/ email, send out a calendar invite to all registered emails within a few minutes of event
2. Have someone on standby who knows how the program well to lock options like screen sharing, who is presenting, and mics. Mute the mics of everyone as soon as they log in
3. DO NOT publicly share the zoom link anywhere but in the calendar invite to registered attendees
4. Make sure that the standby person who is in charge of muting and screen-locking is set as the “host.” If they’re set as the meeting’s host, they have the option to kick people out.
5. Zero-tolerance policy. If you bullshit, you get booted.
Also, an easy way to make an event secure is to have people write in their questions and have everything pre-recorded with the authors to broadcast later. Not as interactive, but it’s safe!
