Coding has been a salvation for me.

I went to prison at 18 and spent nearly all my adult life there. Before getting out I began to learn to code. It was a wonderful escape. I would lose myself in some python before going back to my bunk for count time or ...
for lights out. Afterwards I would return to the computer to lose myself again. I read about coding from @learncodewithme blog that was printed and sent in. Then after reading what @TLM was doing I was inspired to lean into this thing as a career.
Once I was out I began to devour the free resources that available. I couldn't believe things like @freeCodeCamp and @khanacademy didn't cost me anything. I enrolled in college and then a bootcamp. I was hired as a software engineer this year. It gave me an in-demand skill that
has allowed me to rejoin society successfully. I grew up violent and troubled. At some point I started making better choices and coding became symbolic to me of that change.
I say these things to bring attention to a friend who is attempting the same thing, @HarrisLondarel. He was recently released and is trying to put his life together. His current issue is that he needs a laptop.
If anyone in the community has an older laptop I would greatly appreciate the donation. You can either reach out to him or dm me for his address.

Someone asked why I dont buy it myself so I'll explain.

My wife has stage 4 cancer. We are struggling emotionally and financially. Furthermore, I come from a poor family. My mom is on disability and takes care of my niece cause my sister is in and out of prison due to
a crack addiction. My dad is on welfare due to ruining his life with drugs. My brother @jswolter would do anything for me but he has helped me for years. He's why I'm even here to say this.
Not trying to make anyone feel sorry for me. Just explaining why I am not in a financial position to do it myself.

Hope that wasn't too transparent for ya'll.
If anyone would like to send some books or email encouragement here are a few friends I grew up with who have some years left. They aren't the same ppl they once were.
