*sorry this thread is a lil political and long but... Arcadia,CA is home of the LA Arboretum and Santa Anita Racetrack with ~70% population of non-white families, making it a 'minority' dominated community (1/5) https://twitter.com/ashleyriosss/status/1296189723816280064
The Asian dominated area is not new to oppressing it's minorities (which funny enough make up the majority) from removing basketball courts that "attract an undesirable type" (2/5) https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pasadenastarnews.com/2019/08/22/arcadia-councilman-says-basketball-courts-attract-an-undesirable-type-they-wont-get-rebuilt-at-eisenhower-park/amp/
To the most recent Arcadia High School sexual assault #.MeToo movement surrounding Dylan Chan and countless others (3/5) https://www.google.com/amp/s/abc7.com/amp/arcadia-high-school-teen-student/6290212/
This community has brought out joy and hatred from its own and it saddens me to see a PLAYGROUND for CHILDREN gives the impression that a !POLICE BADGE? is an appropriate piece of playtime equipment (4/5)
I left arcadia about a year ago and it sucks to see what has been happening to my friends and peers that are still there :( All I can do is hope that the city will listen to its citizens and begin a change for the better rather than continue to cover up their mistakes (5/5)
