I am so incredibly frustrated with @NotreDame's response to COVID and so worried for my students. They didn't deserve this.
How dare Jenkins pretend reopening was a question of morality and not profit, then subject them to this quarter assed (half is too good) testing and surveillance infrastructure and blame the outcome on student behavior.
Yes, there were parties, but there were always going to be parties. You guardband against the non-compliance, you don't just plan on it as an escape route and sit inside your literal gold dome plotting on ways to keep football happening.
We have amazing public health experts here and an cartoonishly large endowment to pay for more. And as the first University to announce in person instruction, they had the time. This is gross negligence and the numbers will only get worse over the coming days.
My students this semester are freshman. They got dropped off like 2 weeks ago, and now they just have to sit and wait as a potentially debilitating disease works it's way through those dorms.
Yes, many of them are young and healthy, but some of them aren't. There are so many unknowns regarding the long term effects of this disease. It's not fair that they are now unwilling guinea pigs for future studies. I am so angry for them.
