In general, conservative hindus try really hard to paint all muslims as monolith with stereotypes of being savages who came to plunder (bollywood helps), one thing that really troubles the theory is architectural brilliance of Taj and other such buildings made by them. /1 https://twitter.com/mehdi_nisar1/status/1296062214869094402
Therefore, on one hand you will see them deride the buildings or outright claim that they were actually Hindus. P N Oak released his book Taj Mahal: The True Story. Oak claimed Taj was built in 1155 AD and not in the 17th century. /2
Oak propounded the structure was built centuries before the Mughals invaded India and claimed the name Taj Mahal was an obscure corrupted form of a Sanskrit term “Tejo Mahalay”. /3
Oak claimed that Tejo Mahal was most likely built by Hindu ruler Jai Singh I, and that it was actually a Shiva Temple and Rajput royal palace named Tejo Mahalaya. It was captured by Shah Jahan and then turned into a tomb and as renamed Taj Mahal, he claimed. /4
At any rate, not that it needs to be said but the Taj Mahal is not a Hindu temple. It follows the architectural style of Indo-Saracenic structures, with domes and arches inspired from from the Byzantine first Muslims, with absolutely no Hindu connection in sight anywhere. /5
And there are absolutely no corroborative stories of such a structure existing by any historian from south asia or globally between the 11th AD to the time when the Taj was built. /6
PN Oak has a breadth of work from the 80’s that would sound familiar, Christianity being Krishna-neeti, Kaaba being Shiv temple made by King Vikramaditya, English just another dialect of Sanskrit,
city of Prague being Pragjyotishpur and Deutschland (Germany) is Daityasthan. /end
