Ok, this is how I do my fluer de lies. First off, do in batches, surprising how much difference this makes. Also 2ft rule applies. Use minimum colours. I find citadel white best @wargamesodyssey #wip #warmongers
Apply the basic shapes, again this is why I batch paint these, when you nail the first one it is still fresh in mind how to do
I always add the dark shade next, basic is best, this is not Tate gallery competition. Zoom in to all photos, not as neat as they look 
And finally add a lighter shade, this defines the shape, especially the horizontal bars. These took about 90 minutes from start to finish(shields were already primed). I hope this helps
