So I went to #alliancegg conference today out of interest. I had mixed feelimgs about the event. I’m not sure why we needed 5 bouncers and a plethora of camera and sound technicians. But the important thing is policies.
I regret their health policy is ill considered and 1/
Poorly researched. Their social policies were scant except for a strong line on canabis, but the commitment was decriminalisation, which seems at odds with their policing stance.
Strong condemnation of Aurigny, but little concrete actions. An education policy of 3 schools 2/
But no commitment on sites.
The strongest policy was on the environment. I was struck as to their commitmeny to encourage electric cars and increase first registration on petrol and diesel cars by 2025. Strong will to review planning framework to minimise green field 3/
Development. It was the most well developed part of their policies.
The housing though seems confused as it doesn’t account for the reasons to move away from previous systems and how we got to this position.
Overall, they had some interesting policies, but some undetcooked 4/
Ones as well. For a party though, it simply didn’t provide the breadth of policies I expexted.
Scant talk of equality legislation, secondary healthcare, mental health issues, adult disability services.
Criminal justice wasn’t memtioned, social security and aging 5/
Demographic wasn’t touched on. I expected much more, but found good sentiments on issues that I wasn’t expecting such as poverty traps of the lower wage earners.
Whether it’s a mixed bag or a curates egg, will be for you to decide come #Election day.
