Describing Morneau as "the only person in Cabinet with business experience" is a statement completely without basis in fact. https://twitter.com/IvisonJ/status/1296081767884099585
Do we need to go down the list? LeBouthillier ran an outfitter, MacAulay was a farmer, Bibeau ran a small business, Bennet founded a business, Tassi, Qualtrough and Leblanc were practicing lawyers, Wilkinson has run startups and worked in VC, Fortier ran her own small business...
Sorry, Minister Miller was a lawyer too. And, of course, Duclos has a PhD in economics. Freeland's CV is impressive, as is Morneau's, but painting the rest of the cabinet in such a fact-free way is ridiculous.
Many of the members of Trudeau's cabinet also have social services experience which, arguably, is far more relevant to the crisis we're facing today than a Bay St. pedigree. We know that Bay St and Main St are feeling this recession in very different ways.
On the other hand, re: the concern that, perhaps, journalists and others should not offer opinions and advice on those areas in which they lack experience. I wonder how long it will take for such a standard to be reflected in the pages of the National Post?
