Tomorrow, Uber & Lyft are shutting down.

Eliminating thousands of drivers’ income during COVID to avoid following labor law is cruel. Shutting down & laying off workers to scare them into voting Y on Prop22 is extortion.

We're furious.

Let's talk about why they're doing it.👇
Uber and Lyft have had multiple invitations to obey the law:

(Also, the @CA_LaborCommr & @AGBecerra suits were a pretty big hint to companies that they were breaking the law....)
Uber and Lyft have had YEARS to follow the law. They’ve repeatedly chosen to break it.

Now, in response to the most recent judge's ruling against them, multimillionaire CEOs are throwing a tantrum.

Workers have to follow the law. Why don’t their bosses?
Uber and Lyft claim they can't AFFORD to follow the law.

They say that unless they buy November’s election and pass Prop 22—they’ll eliminate drivers’ jobs PERMANENTLY.

They're using us as their political pawns.

And sadly, this tactic isn't new.
When bosses don’t want to follow the law, they frequently claim they can’t afford it & threaten to shut down

Threatening to lay off workers is straight out of the union-busting playbook

Not to mention, this isn’t the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time Uber & Lyft have used this EXACT tactic
Uber and Lyft CAN afford to provide us with the benefits we're legally owed.

The problem? Paying us a living wage would cut into our greedy bosses' profits.

Last year Uber executives got paid $3.9 BILLION in stock-based compensation.

We've thought of one easy way for Uber and Lyfts to afford to pay their workers a living wage — cut CEO salaries.

These CEOs and investors are earning upward of 1000x worker salaries and buying $17 million homes. Sounds like a great place to trim the fat!
So last year Uber spent nearly $4 billion on executive salaries. What else are Uber and Lyft spending their money on?

Bullying us at the ballot.

Gig co. have now ponied up over $112 MILLION to run a misleading ballot campaign called Prop 22 that would repeal our human rights.
What are we doing about it? We're getting organized.

Tomorrow, we’re joining @wedriveprogress and @_drivers_united at Uber HQ for a #NoOnProp22 rally where we'll pass out PPE to drivers.

When our companies turn their backs on us, WE take care of each other.
We're powerful when we're together.

Together we've won the strongest protections for drivers in the nation.

Together we will win #NoOnProp22 & demand that Uber and Lyft 👏 FOLLOW 👏 THE 👏 LAW.

Drivers are many and our bosses are few. We won't be bullied into submission!
