Because I suppose this needs to be explained- I am not shocked that a group of black men would attack black trnas women and then say "black lives matter" because black trans lives don't matter to, I'd say, most of these folks who tout BLM. They don't march for us https://twitter.com/kat_blaque/status/1295911018053267462
Because i support ending state violence against black folks, I will support BLM, but we generally only march for black cis men. Black, cis, heterosexual men. We barely march for black cis women, and we certainly don't march for black trans women.
These men attacked these trans women AND had the audacity to film the entire thing and upload it to social media. That's how little they care about us. That's the point I'm often trying to make when I say that they can do anything to us and they will be defended.
Let's be blunt, black cis men are the ones who tend to kill black trans women. When we experience violence, it's generally at the hands of black cis men and when they kill us, there's a built in defense of how much we deserved it etc etc.
Knowing that, it's not surprising to me to see black cis men do this and do it so boldly. Why wouldn't they? Watch the video, people walked right by them as they bled in the streets. Some of those people black. Cops came and left. They were free to abuse them.
It's a free for all when it comes to trans women. Everyone hates us far more than they can articulate and as a trans woman, i'm very used to this idea that nothing bad done to me is seen as truly bad because of who I am. So yeah, I'm a bit pessimistic.
