This is my thread for the USA v Clinesmith plea hearing:

Defendant has agreed to proceed with his plea via audio versus video or in person. Proceeding forward.

Case officially called.

Clinesmith guilty plea entered.

Judge Boasberg explaining his position as the presiding the judge of this criminal case while also being a judge on the FISA court. Says he received it randomly as other judges do.

Boasberg states he did not sign any of the 4 FISA applications in question.

Neither side requests for Boasberg to recuse himself from this case.

Clinesmith sworn in.

Government not asking for Clinesmith to be detained although that determination is up to the Judge.

Max penalty is up to 5 years in jail, fines, etc.

KC understands he is pleading guilty to one count of 18 USC 1001.

KC agrees that he intentionally entered information into an email that was not originally there. Says he thought the information he added was accurate at the time but it was information that was not originally there.

Judge accepts guilty plea to one count of false statements.

Dec 10 11am for sentencing.

Government requesting passport be surrendered and additional travel restrictions. No objection from the defense. Judge agrees with government's recommendations.

Adjourned until December 10.
