My brother is a homicide detective. He never was interested in politics and never voted (I know).
A few weeks ago, fringes of the BLM group in his town attacked cops during a protest. He was dragged away by 2 protestors and sprained his wrist.
Last week they doxxed him online.

They are now sharing his photos and creating a narrative that he is a direct threat to individuals.
He shrugs it off. Laughs about it.
He is really a good cop. He has reported fellow officers for misconduct.
He knows he isn't perfect.

He knows he isn't perfect.
But, two things are happening now:
1. He is taking time to read up on social and race issues. He sees that there is a problem in law enforcement and he wants to help fix it. He is going to start studying for the sergeant's exam. He wants to lead and fix.

For his 2nd step, he is diving into politics and he is going to vote Trump. My other brother and I are very political, so the conversations have been fun and Cop Brother is listening.
But, he said "I'm probably going to still vote for Trump."
But, he said "I'm probably going to still vote for Trump."
His reasoning, because when he was being dragged, he didn't pull his gun, pull a taser, or fight back. He was confident that, even though he was being assaulted, his life was not in imminent danger.
Note, he was arresting a person that had another cop in a choke hold.

But, as he told me "fuck 'em". His stance is that they singled him out, didn't engage or learn, and have doxxed him and his family.
So, "I'm going to counter one of their votes."
He admits that Trump isn't the greatest guy and he knows his reaction is emotional.

But, he does want to learn. And he wants to learn to show those people who are attacking him that police can be better.
We laugh how it's out of spite.
There is no lesson in this story. No moral.
Just a cop wondering how he can do right to his family and community.

Follow up after some DM's:
This isn't an attempt to say "thank this cop, he is trying!"
This is an attempt to show a story of one man, in a fucked up system, trying to find his place on how he can fix it.
I have faith in my bro, it won't be easy. But, nothing really is.
