I am ready for the hate.

It's no secret I'm not a fan of the current Democratic ticket, but if you're in a battleground state that is not safely out of reach, there is such a thing as cutting your nose off to spite your face.
For example, I live in Pennsylvania. Trump won this state by less than 1% in 2016, the narrowest margin in over a century. I would love to protest vote for a third party candidate to make it clear I don't like the ticket.

But my vote here actually matters.
As a result, I'm looking at it in the same way I'd advise a client in something:

In settlements I have to sometimes say "Yeah, it's not what we want, but the fact is it's enough to keep you afloat. If you don't take it, what's your alternative to keep your head above water?"
That's the difference between saying "Damn the torpedoes" if you're secure enough to afford a loss, or if nothing short of an absolute victory will keep you from losing.

But when it's "Take $200,000 instead of $500,000 and keep your head above water, or reject it and sink"
It's not a "win," it's simply loss mitigation at that point. What's the worst case if you take the deal versus the worst case if you don't, and what will that mean in the long run.

Fact is, if you don't live in a battleground, the DNC doesn't care about your vote.
And because they don't care, there's an impulse that - I'll admit I have it too - they shouldn't get it.

And if the GOP was running someone with a modicum of decency and sense, I may be inclined to say "Fuck it, who's my third party option?"
This year, though, I think the harm outweighs the benefit of my vote, specifically, being a fuck you vote.

All of that said, I'm not here to tell you who to vote for. You vote how you please, and don't feel obligated to tell anyone how you used it.
I won't say I -don't- care who you vote for, because if you're in a state that isn't safe one way or the other, I certainly do care. Genuinely because I'm fairly certain we can't take another four years of unrelenting assaults on democracy.
And, honestly, I'm aware of the problems a vast number of people have with Biden/Harris and their positions in the past, the present, and what we think their positions will be in the future.

Like I said, I'm not here to police your vote. I'm not dismissing your concerns.
I'm just word-vomiting my thought process based on my specific facts.
