There were consequences for @MesutOzil1088 when he first condemned the unjust treatment of Uighur Muslims in China, but he continues to speak up for them and now he's not alone.

Around 1 million Uighurs, predominantly Muslim, are being detained in "re-education camps," according to @amnesty.
In December, Ozil spoke out on social media against the persecution of Uighurs in China and criticised Muslim countries for remaining "silent."
Arsenal distanced themselves from Ozil, stating the 'club does not involve itself in politics.'

Ozil revealed last week that he felt let down.
The club made no statement when Hector Bellerin tweeted ' #FuckBoris' the day before Ozil made his statement.
Ozil was removed from the Chinese version of PES by the game's publisher, while Chinese state broadcaster CCTV cancelled its Arsenal-Man City broadcast.
And now another high-profile player, Demba Ba, has added his voice to Ozil's:
Despite the challenges he faces on and off the field, Ozil is fighting for equality.
