With college students unsure about where they’re going to be living in a few months, & campus GOTV efforts unable to do their usual heavy-lift, I’m increasingly worried that we’re going to see a massive decline in the youth vote in 2020 in NC & nationally #ncpol (1/3)

I have the same concerns about attempts to get students to volunteer as poll workers--as one of my students just told me: I can’t volunteer if I don’t know where I’m going to be living in November (2/3)

Given that voting is a habitual act, a sharp drop in youth voting in 2020 could have long-term, as well as short-term implications for the make-up of the electorate and for electoral participation more broadly (3/3)
