Now that Melo is asleep and I don't have to share my snacks with her, let me recap what happened during the #DStvShowcase today.
But first I wanna show y'all the interesting thread that @Jer1dah did the other day about a possible integration between DStv and some other streaming platforms. Here's the thread: https://twitter.com/Jer1dah/status/1295297815665676289?s=20

“What we are trying to do is to provide an amount of simplicity, choice, and convenience to subscribers – they can come to one place and can get access to all of this different content.”
I really liked this part because it means they've really been listening to their customers.

Then today DStv basically told South Africans during their #DStvShowcase that they're no longer playing with us and that they have quite a few newbies for their customers.
During the #DStvShowcase they announced that they're now launching a new movie add-on package, that includes M-Net Movies 1, M-Net Movies 2, and fliekNET. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/broadcasting/364390-dstv-launches-m-net-movies-add-on-for-r99-per-month.html
This add on package is primarily for customers on these following packages:
- DStv Compact Plus
- Compact
- Family
- Access
- EasyView
- Indian
And will be an add-on for R99 a month. #DStvShowcase

I think the pricing is fair, especially given the nature of what's currently happening in the country. I would however like to see how the customers on those packages respond to this new offering.
I think the customer feedback will be crucial for DStv in the next few months.

They're also launching a few other products like:
1. DStv Explora Ultra decoder - which will provide high-quality satellite broadcasting and integration with popular streaming services.

“DStv will soon be partnering with telecommunications and Internet Service Providers to offer bundled packages which combine the benefits of uncapped internet connectivity, with access to the package of your choice, at incredible value prices"
This got me really excited because I love to see the continuation in collaboration happening. The consumer will probably win more in the end. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/fibre/364388-dstv-with-uncapped-internet-to-launch-in-south-africa.html

I'm excited about it, albeit worry about my DStv landlord kicking me out or changing our T&Cs
@RecluseScrooge. I think this is gonna be a good thing for the industry, but I do have a few things I need clarity on. I do think that only time will tell.

What do you guys think about the #DStvShowcase and what they announced?
Cause it sounds to me like DStv basically said:
Everybody gets a surprise.
