‘Halal’ meat and stunning in the U.K.

[thread]
Allah says:

Forbidden to you are dead animals....or those killed by a violent blow [5:3]

According to the Farm Animal Welfare Council 33% of stunned chicken is dead before it reaches the blade. This would enter the market labeled ' Halal

This meat is haram by consensus.
Stunning (irrespective of whether the animal dies as a result) is considered haram when there are alternatives* available as it causes suffering to the animal which is forbidden.

The prophet ﷺ ordered to let the animal die quickly, comfortably & with minimal pain

[Muslim 1955]
According to official government statistics the VAST MAJORITY of meat marketed as Halal is actually stunned. This is true for every single species of animal.

Many people were outraged at the consumption of McDonald’s and labelled it haram with their reasoning being that it is stunned, however these same people have no problem consuming meat from places such as KFC, Nando’s, Subway etc which explicitly state that their meat is stunned.
HMC-a regulating body for halal food (UK)doesn’t class stunned meat as halal. You can be assured all meat certified by HMC is non-stun. Here’s your alternative*

No excuses for ppl saying when in doubt not to eat non Zabiha. Better stop eating non HMC as there‘s significant doubt
Not only does it entail refraining from restaurants which aren’t HMC approved, but also to stop buying meat from butchers which aren’t. As established, the majority of meat marketed halal is stunned, so there’s a higher chance you’ll end up with meat that doesn’t qualify as halal
Personally, I‘ve never had a problem with eating from these places—(never researched it until now) just like vast majority of Muslims I know

This is simply to expose the hypocrisy of ppl who will go crazy over eating McDs because “the meat is stunned” but continue to eat Non HMC
