📖 The Story Of Arrigo Sacchi’s Milan |
1980 |

Since last winning the Serie A in 1979, Milan were relegated to Serie B because of the “Totonero scandal” along side Lazio.

Milan quickly returned to the Serie A but the problems didn’t stop there...
1981/82 |

A lot of the team’s star players left the club ..

As a result, Milan were relegated again that season, after finishing 14th in the league.
By the end of 1985 Silvio Berlusconi stepped up to buy AC Milan with his ambition being to bring the club back to the top of Europe’s elite!
1986 |

Silvio Berlusconi had completed his purchase of AC Milan and said his famous words:

“I’ll make the world know Italia as the home of the great AC Milan!”.
He started making plans and supplying the team with young talents such as Roberto Donadoni from Atalanta, Carlo Ancelotti from AS Roma & Giovanni Galli from Fiorentina!
With a squad already containing:

(future club legends)

• Franco Baresi

• Daniele Massaro

• Mauro Tassotti

• Alessandro Costacurta

• A 16 y/o Paolo Maldini

Berlusconi managed to make a strong team that can challenge any big team in Europe!
Everyone thought that AC Milan would be the champions that season ..

But, the team disappointed & failed expectations, finishing 5th in the table
The season after, Berlusconi appointed Arrigo Sacchi as the new club manager.

The Italian press were shocked!

🎙 Press:: “how can you train a champion if you’re never a champion yourself?!”

🎙 Sacchi : “I didn’t know that I need to be a horse first to be a jocky”
That same year |

Silvio Berlusconi spent big! Winning the signings of future club legends,

Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit & Frank Rijkaard 🇳🇱
Revolutionary at the time, Arrigo Sacchi created his own style in the 4-4-2, using the offside-trap as his defensive weapon of choice & “total football”; where defenders can score & attackers defend!
Sacchi was a genius and a purist. His philosophy was always to win but to make it look good at the same time!”

If you want to go down in history you don’t just need to win you have to entertain”.

- Arrigo Sacchi
