Latest restrictions - some thoughts
We have been well led through this crisis. We dodged a bullet in April/May/June - we didn't have army trucks transporting coffins (Italy), ICUs in tents in public parks (Spain), or burial pits (NY). Didn't happen by accident.

We continue to be well lead - medically and politically.
Some of the faces might have changed, but the message is the same and the intentions also stay the same (dodge the next bullet).

Ronan Glynn and Stephen Donnelly have both stepped in to roles that were superbly executed by their predecessors, and they both deserve our support and thanks. Some of the criticism of them in the last 24 hours is unfair and unwarranted.

One characteristic of this crisis is that it is unprecedented. That means nothing like it has happened before.
Decision makers have to make decisions at speed and with incomplete information (like emergency medicine docs, nurses, paramedics and other medical professionals)

Sometimes, what hindsight shows to be the right decision may not be immediately apparent.
So let's cut the ACMO, the Minister, NPHET, and everyone else that has been working flat out to dodge the bullet, a break.

As for the decision on sports - I'm a hurling/camogie coach, administrator and team doctor.
Of course I'm disappointed with new restrictions. But I understand why they're necessary - sport must come after the health and the economy. A Covid resurgence threatens both.

As a GAA member, I think challenging the ACMO was not right. The issue doesn't seem to be what happens during the game, it appears to before and after. If so, and if restricting games is the solution then so be it.
