German gambling laws are heavily influenced by the clans Gauselmann and Novomatic. They are dominating the offline gambling market and they are planning to dominate the German online gambling market. To "regulate" and "legalize" online gambling in Germany ( #GlueStV) ... 1/10
they are planning a new 'Glücksspielstaatsvertrag' or short #GlueStV as of July 2021. Germany has always tried to outlaw online poker but because that isn't possible due to EU laws, they are trying their best to make online poker as unattractive as possible. 2/10
The new #GlueStV includes these limitations:

- deposit limit of only €1000/month
- removing any p2p transfers
- not allowing any multitabling
- not allowing playing on mutiple sites at the same time
- introcing max blinds/buyins and tablecaps

3/10
All of these changes are purely designed to make online poker as unplayable as possible. This is due to online casinos making very little money from poker compared to slots, sports betting etc. Gauselmann and Novomatic want to create a new market that favors pure gambling. 4/10
On top of that the new law #GlueStV wound demand all operators to save and share of personal infos (in order to enforce these limitations across different sites) which could be a violation of German law regarding personal data. 5/10
Source: If you speak German you can see the proposed law here: https://www.automatenmarkt.de/fileadmin/Allg._Bilder/GlueStV_2021_Entwurf_EU_Notifizierung.pdf #GlueStV
And in this long, German article a well informed opinion from a judicial point of view (falls es irgendwelche Jura-Nerds bis hier geschafft haben): https://www.isa-guide.de/isa-law/articles/209506.html 7/10
Gauselmann and Novomatic would profit from having an easier access to the German market than international operators. They will also profit if they force gamblers to purely play slots that are more addictive and generate more profit for the site. #GlueStV 8/10
Poker players will be forced to quit or to play on unregulated sites or apps which required to take big risks. My only hope is that the new #GlueStV violates EU law (as suggested by the linked article) and maybe that @PokerStarsDE is powerful enough to lobby for better laws.9/10
But I am not very optimistic. RT appreciated and thanks for reading :) 10/10
