Everyone is talking about virtual events, but what I'm seeing is a lot of organizations struggling with the translation of in-person to digital. Let's break down seven concrete ideas your organization can do to make the leap in today's thread.

1/

First, you need to get creative with the space itself. Review how people interact with your event website and see where you can inject some engagement activities. Be multi-channel in how you do this. 2/
One of my faves inspired by @ChrisStrub is during your live stream asking the audience to take a specific picture (like a selfie) and post it using the event's hashtag. Make people feel part of the experience and create those magic moments. 3/
Second, issue some social media challenges. This is where you can really zero in on your mission and get creative. Help save cats? It's cat photo challenge time. Here's an old one of my cat, take a mid-thread break to post your own cat. 4/
Third, use theme days. Especially if you're doing a virtual peer to peer fundraising event, this is when you can get the community fully involved. Break out the daycare calendars for this one if you need some inspiration - crazy hat day, dress as a superhero day
, etc. 5/

Fourth, send out a call for videos. With 85% of all internet users in the US watching video content on a monthly basis, this is a huge opportunity. Instead of asking them to watch, ask them to create! Be PART of the event and get them posting on their timeline.
6/

Fifth, offer incentives. This is where you can even think about how to leverage those t-shirts you have sitting around or other small items. For instance, we created a special Spotify playlist for attendees to the #GenerosityExchange. Make it fun! 7/
Sixth, think about using Facebook Live for direct interactions. Host an interview with the top fundraiser from one of your previous P2P campaigns or hold your workshop on virtual event best practices so you do a live Q&A in the lead up. 8/
Seventh and finally, don't stop the momentum! Keep things going year round by allowing DIY fundraising, tributes and memorials, recurring giving options, and other great opportunities to interact with your mission. 9/
