Good morning @CMOH_Alberta. I was a little concerned about your class size remarks in regards to high schools yesterday. DYK The CBC put out some excellent class size data from Alberta recently? #abed #AbLeg https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/alberta-class-size-data-2020-covid-19-back-to-school-1.5682575
Did you also know that itâs likely to be MORE overcrowded heading into 2020-21 b/c of funding reductions, grant eliminations, and program cuts due to reductions in other govât departments that impact schools? Anyway, I digress...
A number of school boards have noted that distancing will be impossible. EPSB is one: https://twitter.com/bridgetstirling/status/1291207684247531521
RVSD is another (page 6): https://www.rockyview.ab.ca/school-re-entry-plan/scenario-one
And Elk Island: https://twitter.com/sandersonshpk/status/1294391495751905280
1000s of teachers and parents KNOW that high schools in urban areas are overcrowded and over capacity. https://twitter.com/chadmsaunders/status/1293921749541597188
The ATA knows this, too. https://twitter.com/philmcrae/status/1294031285573136385
And the Opposition has been lifting up and amplifying teacher and parent voices. https://twitter.com/rachelnotley/status/1295027606526373889
So, if formal concerns havenât been reported to you by @AdrianaLaGrange, or you prefer to deflect that responsibility back on to her, maybe itâs time to gather some data of your own and ask her whatâs being withheld? Our safety depends on it. #VeryWorriedAB #SafeSeptemberAB
