Here's a public service announcement from the SCO Emeritus for current and future battalion and squadron commanders (and above).
Get to know @TheWTFNation team early and communicate with them. Your base response should not be to recoil from interaction. They will help you.

@TheWTFNation is a team of individuals who can provide insight to what is happening in the formation you're tasked to lead.

Do I agree with everything @TheWTFNation posts? No. But...
Did I agree with everything the Squadron CSM, S3, XO, or Troop commanders did? No.
Did they agree with everything I did? Not a chance.

Don't let a preconceived bias about @TheWTFNation (that may not be founded at all) deter you from developing a relationship.
If your biggest fear in command is showing up on @TheWTFNation then your priorities are probably jacked up anyway.

@TheWTFNation can be like the IG, a complaint box, open door policy all in one. And don't forget the people who volunteer to staff it are leaders like you. Some in pretty important positions.
I'm not saying @PatDonahoeArmy or @TradocDCG are admins but I have suspicions...

Our Squadron was on @TheWTFNation once while I was in command. And it was actually pretty funny - our Mess Sergeant put out a sign in the chow tent in Hungary that he and the other cooks were not your mom and that people need to clean up after themselves. Frankly he was right

Once in two years. How many times could we have been on there? Many. But because of a relationship both @TheWTFNation and I had built in backchannels, I knew if they brought something to my attention I had a time window to look into the issue and fix it. 7/9
And to @TheWTFNation 's credit, they allowed me the time to do so. They helped orient me to a few items over two years that needed attention. And gave me the opportunity to fix it before putting the squadron on blast (where I'd probably have a much bigger issue to fix).

Summary - If you are in command or are going to take command, engage @TheWTFNation and see them for the enabling function they provide you and your formation.
