People really still think there’s a left-wing bias in the education system?
They’re really teaching people ‘socialism is when income and wealth always the same, capitalism when people are rewarded for their talent’ and we get confused when no one knows wtf socialism actually is? I hate it here.
‘Typical mistake: Talking about socialism accurately in a way that doesn’t demonise it.’
It’s all these subtle (for someone who isn’t looking for them and doesn’t already understand the subject) inaccuracies reinforced over and over again in spaces that are supposedly objective that make it so difficult to have meaningful discussions about politics with most people.
Hate the fact that I’m gonna have to parrot this shit in the exam if I want to do well. Pretty clear that the indoctrination isn’t from the left here.
They also keep referring to socdems as an example of a socialist and I am losing the will to live over here.
I’m from the UK, and whatever you think the context was (which you don’t know considering I was, you know, the one who read the book), they have blatantly misdefined socialism and misrepresented socialist views. This persons thread is so patronising.

Oh and they just keep on ranting, apparently I should only be paying attention to material problems right now like evictions, as if we can’t care about multiple things at once and as if young people being misinformed in a way that paints us in a negative way is unimportant.
It’s not difficult to understand that it’s far harder to get people on our side if even the education system, meant to be objective, is peddling these inaccuracies that turn people against us. We need people to be educated and informed so they can help with these material issues.
There’s strength in numbers, and it’s far easier for us if we actually teach teenagers the actual definitions of things than having to undo years of inaccuracies they’ve had solidified in their minds for years. We take what we learn in school as fact, so it ofc should be factual.
Why are they SO committed to missing the point? It didn’t say ‘liberals believe in meritocracy,’ did it. It contrasted the two to say it is a mistake to describe socialism as a meritocracy that cares for equality of opportunity. https://twitter.com/brightsidebryan/status/1296066966566780928?s=21 https://twitter.com/brightsidebryan/status/1296066966566780928
For someone calling me illiterate, it seems they really did struggle to read a pretty simple passage in a book.
Uh oh, stinky
