I definitely have an opinion on this. They decided to sell H as the bisexual sex symbol who loves woman and is in and out quick relationships with woman only.. the mystery around his sexuality is exiting and still appealing for his fandom that’s made out of young woman mostly... https://twitter.com/_Mirosu_/status/1296034205303025665
He can be supportive of the LGBT community.. He can break down barriers and express himself in any way..as long as it doesn't disturb the glorious idyll of the heterosexual lifestyle.. No matter how extravagant he is, it’s always thrown on the “sex, drugs and rock and roll” image
An mainstream artist's appeal (Like Harry’s) can rest as much on their attractiveness as their ability to sing in tune. Artists like H are primed for their sex appeal to a generation of young girls and woman.. tell them their idol is gay and the myth is ruined..
We all see how his fandom is.. no matter how hard he tries to distance himself from it.. he’s still seen as that hot, sexy guy. Large part of his fandom is drooling over him, fantasizing about him.. linking him to another man who is hated by a huge part of the fandom is killing
So what do I think Jeff’s influence is in this? I really think Jeff is constantly trying to find a way that is closest to the real H, without damaging his career. He is trying to negotiate between label and H. Trying to get the most out of it..
.. within the barriers of what the label is giving them.. Trying to make H noticed under a slightly different audience. Him getting so big now is a strategy. Ask yourself who of your IRL who are not in this fandom, knew Harry when HS1 came out.. Almost nobody..
Now I have parents, coworkers and friends who start to talk about him.. who saw him getting that number one position on Billboard.. who know his songs. It’s a small notice but a major deal to turn his audience into a more general and mixed audience instead of young woman only..
Which is extremely important if you want to shake that sex symbol status off of you. It’s a slow process and a constant battle between what H wants, what good is for his career and what his label wants for him. But I’m sure he is having a plan.. we just have to wait.
