Alcohol is your best friend until it becomes your only friend.

Some notes and observations on drinking:
1.) Hangover

Hangovers can actually last up to 72 hours.

After a night of binge drinking, the physical hangover symptoms clear up the next day. Mentally, it takes me 72 hours to think clearly again.

Another note on hangovers: You should only feel that way if you’re dying
2.) Calories

Liquor contains about 70-100 calories per shot.

Beer contains about 100 calories per 12 ounces.

Not bad when it’s by itself, but who ever has just one?

I’ve got friends that down a 12 pack in one sitting. That’s around 1200 calories.
3.) Hormones

Ever wonder why you get the post drinking blues?

It’s because alcohol messes with your body’s natural hormone levels, leading to a chemical imbalance and (usually) depression

Considering the frequency people drink, it’s no wonder everyone is depressed all the time
4.) social life

Contrary to popular belief, alcohol does not help your life socially.

In fact, it’s usually the opposite.

People usually have to apologize for something they did when they were drunk.

But I’ve never heard the designated driver apologize.
5.) Processing emotion

Most people use alcohol as an escape.

Whether they’re running from something that happened or running from how they feel, it’s used as a coping mechanism.

A real man should be able to face his problems.

He shouldn’t need to hide behind a bottle.
6.) money

Now this can be massive over time.

Most beers at a restaurant cost around $7. Cocktails are around $10

Have 2 or 3 of those and you’re at an extra $30.

Drinking at home? No problem. A 6 pack is $10. I know people who drink that every other night.

Hundreds a month.
7.) quitting improves your life

I’ve never heard a sober person say their life got worse with sobriety.

Nikki Glaser, a comedian, said that she can trace the rise in her career to the moment she quit drinking.

For our 9-5ers, you probably hate Monday because you’re hungover.
The only things alcohol will do for you is make you fat, lonely, and unhappy.

The momentary joy isn’t worth it, because all it’s doing is stealing that joy from the next 72 hours.

The quickest way to improve your life is to quit drinking. There is no habit more destructive.
