Instagram took advantage of the recent controversy with Tiktok. They stole their 15 second mini video concept and implemented it into their platform.
Reels have the same ratio as stories and IGTV (9:16) It covers your entire screen.

As soon as you watch one Reel, the next one pops up. Just like it does on TikTok. Never ending content. Never ending dopamine hits.
It's an incredible way of making users stay on your platform for as long as possible, and thus making as much money as possible.

If you want to post a Reel on your account
You first have to go on the home tab and click on the stories option (Top left)
Then, at the bottom you should see a Reel option
Upload your video, add music or captions if you want
Done

If you post a Reel they show up in your feed and the TOP OF THE EXPLORE PAGE by default

I've tested them extensively over the past few days, and they perform better than normal videos 90% of the time

My suggestion is, use reels as much as possible as they're still hot
Every time Instagram adds a new feature it performs incredibly well
Why?
They want to push and promote this feature as much as possible
