I've been getting better at identifying exactly when a writer has lost my attention because they said something that didn't seem true or necessary to me.
I was just reading a really good thread about university funding (which I retweeted on my other account), and once the person made a dig at young people taking out student loans, I was done. I kept reading, but nothing was sticking.
Young people don't take out loans just because they want to have fun in college. They take out student loans because all of the messaging we get tells us that we won't survive without a college education. It's hard to see an alternative, so you make the gamble.
