I'm pondering something. Quite often I see the narrative that some children are advantaged by what parents do at home but 'other' children need a specific style of teaching because their parents didn't advantage them. 1/n
But when I think about what I've done as a parent to 'advantage' my children it's all open ended conversations, following interests, playful approaches, exploration and self regulation (mostly letting them fail at stuff). A bit like how I teach basically. 2/n
So my question is this: why does the proposed method for closing the 'advantage gap' seem to be so different to how that 'advantage' appears to have happened in the first place?
