I have worked with state and independent schools. Teachers in these schools have much in common. Students and teachers often move between sectors. What has impressed me in recent times is the focus on creativity and critical thinking in the best of both. What worries me most 1) https://twitter.com/paulgarvey4/status/1295993722732187649
2) is the myth that independent schools all reflect grad grind and lack of care. State schools who think think they are modeling themselves on this myth are dangerous places. They are promoting a myth that is archaic. The same myth that says all state schools are chaotic.
3)The vast majority of schools in both sectors are well led. Teaching is good and they are respectful places of learning. Our present Government and its acolytes are irresponsible in fueling these myths. Why do they do it? Who benefits in either pecuniary or philosophical terms?
