Here is the problem with the @E3 article and why people care
A thread

1⃣ They report numbers about demographic of females between 34-54 years old but don't specify how many participants there were or how they conducted their research and make general conclusions
2⃣ They don't state what type of market they researched: was it PC-gaming, facebook gaming, console gaming?
3⃣ The article was written like it was written by someone who writes for a teen magazine and has no idea about conducting a social research or report on the results of it
4⃣ When you write an article about a 'gender' issue e.g. female gamers vs male gamers you should at least research about the differences between both groups and be able to address or debunk certain assumptions within the gaming community
5⃣ a marketing issue: they marketed the article as "the ultimate list of games for female gamers" I understand the science behind clickbait titles but this one just wasnt representative of the article you presented
6⃣ The platform the article was published on... If this article was in a popculture magazine there probably wouldnt have been a problem, but on E3 it just felt like they dont know their audience well
Anyways this is again an example of public outrage on twitter, ofcourse there are way worse things than an ill-conducted and reported research... Then again bad research is what idiots mostly rely on to defend unpopular opinions..
So if you learn something from this is:
When you write an article just think of who your audience is, how you report your research and on what platform you post it
