While I’m on the topic, as much as I love Allura and every cool thing she does, if any alien race was gonna have chameleon abilities it should have been the galra. It would have helped account for the range of physical diversity they display AND we could have seen little baby -
Keith who was born with him mom’s purple-y coloring, but then after krolia leaves when he’s just a baby, he would instinctually mimic his dads coloration, and then as he grew older he would lose touch with that ability since his dad was human and couldn’t teach him to do it -
on purpose.
And THEN we could see older Keith consciously embrace his galra heritage and let some of his natural coloration back in, maybe just copying his moms face marks, two toned hair, brighter purple eyes, maybe some days his skin would look more lavender than before

Basically galra as a chameleon species would have added more to the lore and possible plot stuff than chameleon alteans, cuz all that did was give us a throwaway line about it making them good diplomats and had 2 instances of actual plot usefulness

been the only species truly capable of naturally manipulating quintessence, Allura was already a superhero at it, there was no need to have the vague suggestions that Keith was somehow more quintessence sensitive than everyone else when we don’t see that with other galra afaik
