The search for the “new” Leicester and an accompanying talisman like Jamie Vardy
An insight into the signs hinting at Leicester’s success for last season prior to its start and how a similar pattern is repeating itself with two teams ahead of this new campaign

For the first half of last season, the team we found the most value in were Leicester City
They were second in the league by Christmas and occupied 2-3 spaces in the vast majority of FPL teams...
However, the foundations for this success were laid from the previous season...

Brendan Rodgers took over as Leicester manager ahead of GW29 in the 18/19 season...
Despite tough fixtures to finish the season, Leicester and Vardy managed the following:
Games: 9
Goals: 16
Points: 17
Clean sheets: 3
Jamie Vardy
Games: 9
Goals: 8
Assists: 1

The foxes
then carried this form over to last season and nobody benefited more from this than Jamie Vardy...
The team set itself up in a way that suited him perfectly and his ever clinical finishing meant that he was almost out of sight in the race for golden boot by Christmas

Leicester’s change in fortune was caused by a new manager with a clear way of playing that suited key players...
As a result we saw the likes of Vardy, Soyuncu, Maddison and Ricardo flourish in our FPL teams...
A similar pattern can now be seen with Arsenal
and Southampton

Arsenals change in fortunes can be credited to a change in manager and style similar to Leicester since they have adopted 3 atb and Arteta has come in...
Similarities can also be seen as they are heavily reliant on a talisman
Aubameyang and that the new way of playing...

Gets the very best out of him resulting in more involvement and crucial goals.
The changes have also resulted in improvements in defence like Leicester and that’s why I’m also tipping Kieran Tierney to be great this season with extra cs and a newly formed partnership with Auba!

The fa cup win was huge for Arsenal and gives them the momentum to carry into next season!
Based on the evidence from the end of season and the example of Leicester last year, I see Auba reaching new levels under Arteta and the likes of Tierney also flourishing in FPL terms...

As bizarre as it sounds the man with the most non penalty goals in the league is being criminally ignored...
Hassenhutls style took a while to get used to but now the relentless pressing is making them a right pain for anyone to play against!
Arguably the form team going into..

The new season the Saints have signed Salisu and perma KWP bolstering an already strong defence...
So much so that I’m predicting a lot of us will have McCarthy + a defender this season...
As for the talisman himself... Misses less chances in a season than Jesus in half an hour

And he’s told everyone where to shove their “glass ankles” claim!
It remains to be seen whether he takes pens or not but with the right fixtures it really doesn’t matter... he’s in my team and a potential captaincy option!

Also, Southamptons away form was incredible compared to home form last season... This suggests not relying on a home crowd to spur them on and may suit empty stadiums

Additionally, both Arsenal and Southampton have proven that they can adapt to having no fans in the stadium better than most...
It has been a seamless transition for both teams and this will be crucial for next season as there is no sign of fans being allowed attend anytime soon

In conclusion, I am expecting both Arsenal and Southampton to drastically improve their campaign next season in a similar fashion to Leicester last season...
Similarities include:
New managers
Great form
Significant improvement defensively
Heavily reliant on a proven goalscorer
