A few years ago I bought a professional microphone online. In that time my needs changed and I to upgrade last year and tried to trade it in.

The shop refused the trade in because there are just too many fakes around and they couldn't afford to take the chance.

1/?
They werent saying mine was a fake but simply that because they were aware of so many counterfeits they had to implement a global policy.

Yes, they could thoroughly examine each and every one on an individual basis but is that practical? Is it reasonable & cost effective?

2/?
Ive just seen yet again a statement that transwomen arent a risk to women.

For the sake of argument lets say that is true.

Given that "trans" is self declared how do you stop men using a trans identity to gain access to women for nefarious reasons?

3/?
How do you seperate the genuine from the counterfeit?

The solution is the same policy as that shop I went to.
"I'm terribly sorry, and this is nothing personal, but we are unable to accept this item due to the high number of counterfeit variants in existence".

4/?
I could shout and scream and complain how unfair it is.

In an ideal world I would have traded it in no problem but criminal acts by others stopped me from doing so. That was irritating!

Or I could accept that its not an accusation against me. Its not a personal attack.

5/?
Its simply a business protecting itself.

If they bought the item from me, listed it for resale as genuine and it was fake the consequences to their business could be devastating.

6/?
To those genuine dysphoric trans people:

When women say NO its not accusing you of something. Its not a personal attack.

It's saying that knowing how many opportunistic, predatory, fake trans there are the consequences of opening up womens spaces is just too dangerous.

7/?
You can complain about it all you like, accuse women of transphobia and bigotry

OR

you can accept that women have a right to protect themselves and YOU cant be the exception.
