If we talk numbers, albeit inflated a bit:
$1 billion was the cost of funding the investigation & tribunal over 15 years. Lebanonās share of the budget was 49%, the equivalent of $490 million. [...]
However, the lebanese government didnāt pay all that sum, simply because it couldnāt. One country that helped with Lebanonās share is Saudi Arabia, among others. (2)
So let us assume Lebanon footed a bill worth of $350 million over 15 years to reach todayās verdict, a precedent in Lebanese politics and the countryās long history of assassinations. (3)
I see it as a good bargain and a cheap one for many reasons; one of which is that Hezbollah, member of all governments since 2005 till today, technically agreed and signed on this funding (regardless media chatter and propaganda), meaning they acknowledged the tribunal. (4)
Also, starting today we will be able to point fingers at least towards the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, this same country spent $40 billion over 10 years trying to fix or unfix the electricity problem and electricity supply was at 2 hours per day 2 weeks ago. (5)

Ten years while the free patriotic movement ran the ministry and up until this moment we cannot even surely accuse them of squandering or embezzling the $40 billion. (6)
Putting things in perspective helps a lot. It remains that people have different priorities in their vision towards state building, although I m sure that one unified request by all thawra groups or actors is the need for an independent judiciary. (7)
Todayās verdict is a vindication of such need. (8) #RaficHariri #Ų±ŁŁŁ_Ų§ŁŲŲ±ŁŲ±Ł
