As a Machine Learning Engineer, I get to be involved in a lot of crazy cool projects.

Here are 5 of them: 🧵👇
1⃣Inspecting outdoor pipelines to detect leaks.

These inspections are carried by the Spot robot. As it walks, it takes pictures and our system analyzes them in real-time to determine whether there are any leaks.

We use Deep Learning as the core of the solution.

👇
2⃣Flight assistant to aid drone inspection of telecommunication towers.

The algorithm uses Computer Vision to aid a pilot to properly take video footage of the towers (ensuring the drone is properly located.)

We use Deep Learning here as well.

👇
3⃣Analog Gauge Reading.

This is a solution that is able to read analog gauges and determine whether the equipment is working as expected based on those readings.

We use a combination of Deep Learning and OpenCV to read the gauges.

👇
4⃣Identification of faulty electrical components on outdoor poles.

This is a solution that uses a pipeline of Deep Learning models to determine whether different electrical components are faulty. All the images are taken by drones.

Pretty handy after hurricanes!

👇
5⃣Identification of break-ins into a private venue.

The solution uses video footage to identify people that walk into the place without paying.

This solution uses a combination of Object Detection, Tracking, Optical Flow, and Anomaly Detection using LTSM encoders.

All of these projects require the effort of an entire team: software engineers, data scientists, cloud specialists, designers, project managers, ml engineers, QA, etc.

It's amazing what you can build with a team that loves what they do!
