So I wanted to make a thread of common misconceptions surrounding Knull and clear a couple things up as well as summarize his backstory. This idea stemmed from a conversation I was having with a buddy who didn’t know Knull and looked at videos and articles instead. For those who-
Learned something, a rt would be appreciated.
To start, we don’t know how or when Knull was born. At the moment we only know he predates the known universe, and drifted through the void until he was awoken by the Big Bang and celestials who filled the void with light.
To start, we don’t know how or when Knull was born. At the moment we only know he predates the known universe, and drifted through the void until he was awoken by the Big Bang and celestials who filled the void with light.
He would then wage a war against the light and celestials for the invasion of his dark kingdom, cutting off the head of a celestial in the process, with a blade pulled from his own shadow. Forging the sword in celestial fire, he would go on to create All-Black the Necrosword.
At some point during his war he ran into a time displaced Silver Surfer. After an intense battle, he bonded the surfer to symbiote. A young Ego would go on to free the Surfer but cleansing him with light while giving him directions to flee, for the Surfer could not beat Knull
After hunting him down, the SS in one last attempt to escape expended the last of his power cosmic to conjure a star in front of Knull, bathing him in cosmic plasma, exploded throwing Knull across the system. Acknowledging he only slowed down Knull and didn’t kill him.
There’s a common misconception that Thor beat Knull. This is not true. At that point he hadn’t even met Gorr so I doubt Thor could do more than scratch him. However, he DID sever the connection between Knull and his Symbiotes.
This resulted in the Symbiotes bonding to noble and honorable hosts, and with a mind of their own, they would encase Knull inside the artificial planet he created know as Klyntar. The symbiote word for “cage.”
Probably the biggest misunderstood fact I see is Knull himself is the first symbiote. He is NOT. I can’t stress that enough lol Knull is a dark primordial deity, one who CANT be killed (confirmed by Donny Cates). The first symbiote was All-Black the Necrosword.
The Necrosword itself is sentient and possesses its own will, but still served Knull and pushed his agenda of ridding the universe of gods and light. It’s been shown to corrupt users other than Knull, such as Gorr and Loki.
The blade grants its host an array of godlike powers. Those shown have been strength, durability, longevity, regeneration, and dark energy manipulation along with the ability to nullify immortality. And despite its weakness to extreme heat, it has been shown to turn a star black.
If y’all don’t mind sharing this so others are more aware of who he is more than just a venom villain for the upcoming King in Black event. It’d be appreciated.
