We were checking out wanting to buy them as snake food smh, so it felt good to rescue them - we looked for weeks for rats until we got lucky - but we didn’t know til later HOW lucky! They were the best two boys ever, truly truly special as I’m so sure your rats were too - they’re
Just perfect animals it’s unbelievable. Everyone who met them was instantly on board with rats even if previously terrified. Even kitty’s dad! Berry was the timid, anxious brother & biscuit was the daring one who did everything for him to show him it was ok, when we drove to FL
With them, Berry cowered at the bottom of their cage for 12 hours! Even during food! But biscuit resiliently went to the top platform & for one food pellet / treat at a time& brought it down to berry to feed him, and show him it was ok! In the end, it was clear for a while that
Berry was pretty sick & all we could do was ease it as best we could when he had breathing problems, stuff like that, but it wasn’t often it seemed like he was too bothered - not til the last day, & then he was gone. Biscuit however never seemed sick, but when his brother died he
Saw what was happening& laid down next to him & died too, within 30 minutes the was gone too, & tho I’ve pretty much never been sadder in my life (just when my cat + family have passed) i couldn’t stop thinking abt how scared Berry always was abt anything new & imagining biscuit
Realizing how scared his brother must be again & sighing & going with him to help him like always. It still to this day makes me cry to talk abt it (but I can talk abt THEM now, which is good bc they were THE BEST - kit and I have talked abt getting tattoos of/for them soon) but
Ya, we buried them together & with their TsumTsum they loved (daisy) but kept their “best rats in the world” medal that I made them/they won & got this made up to put with it - they’d chewed it up p good over the years but it’s still nice/clear! Just wanted to say - had to wait
Til I felt more able & also didn’t feel appropriate to say until a few days had passed but, it’s unbearably sad & you’ll ALWAYS miss horribly but over time it’ll make u smile every time u remember anything, instead of want to cry, & that’s important to know & hold in mind
