Finally about to watch #LovecraftCountry
!!! Excited. I saw folks talking about sundown towns this week. We have one of those not too far from my small hometown in NC on the border of South Carolina. By the time my brothers got to driving our grandparents gave them the

rundown on what towns not to be caught in past 5 pm.
Once my cousin disappeared- and somehow his aunt (a state attorney) was able to track him down to a jail in SC via some contacts.
When she got to him there was absolutely no record at all of his detainment. No paperwork.

Wasn’t until i left the South that i realized ‘sundown towns’ were a phenomenon most folks either didn’t know of, or assumed was a relic of the past. Child, there’s still towns were ‘concerned citizens’ (klan) meet openly on Sundays, and towns we’d route around so not to get
caught there past dark when i came of driving again. And I’m 31 now.
The past isn’t that much the past.
