Just figured out how to make a thread haha. So...Never have. I think mainly it's due to the constant feeling of not feeling worthy of telling such advice. But what I have been doing is writing almost every day for the past 5 years because that's where everything begins the story. https://twitter.com/JoshDance/status/1295850840746373122
Really flesh out the story you want to tell. It's not as simple as just having an idea. The best thing to do is drawn from real life, come up with the arc for your characters, they are starting here and going to end here. These are the first things execs look for.
But really I've found the more difficult stuff to learn is everything that happens after the show. It's one of the most mentally taxing things I've ever done running a show. I love it because it's challenging and rewarding but my least favorite thing is when it premieres.
Because that's when your skin needs to be the thickest, you'll face an endless wave of criticism but also praise from the choices you had to make a year ago. This is when you'll feel the most alone and you'll have to go into work the next day all the while knowing you suck.
I've found the best thing that's helped me is after the thing is done that I've made I ask myself "With all the resources you had, all the obstacles you had to deal with..is this the best you could have done?" If the answer is yes, you have really nothing to feel bad about.
So you dust yourself off and try even harder to keep improving, to keep learning and growing. Some people just sadly just want fame, others want to create stories that affect people, to make them feel something. It's easy to spot the difference. Just keep digging for that story!
Cheer! Hugs and hugs!
