As a referee in southern Manitoba, I had 3 unforgettable moments as an official: 3 - meeting Morris Lukowich, one of my first Jets heroes, such a fast skater and a great goal scorer. (Note this would have ranked higher but “Luke” game me shit for my puck dropping flaws lol.
Apparently it’s a big deal if the puck lands flat, who knew? ;) 2 - hockey day in Canada was in Winkler, and the Zodiacs played the Thunder with first place on the line in the last game of the season. It was so loud, we couldn’t hear the whistles when our partners blew them.
After the game, @RonMacLeanHTH came into the officials’ dressing room and told us what a great job he thought we did. Who needs Don Cherry? Not me! 1 - another charity game, and this time I got to drop the puck for @DaleHawerchuk10. I was so shit scared I didn’t even dare
Talk to him, but my brother in law @pvcameraguy got me an autographed picture. Best moment. A great one has moved on.
