The Law of Tithes

This is not what you're thinking 🙄

A short while ago, I sat at a performance review session with two of my colleagues who joined recently. Sometimes, I hold one-on-one sessions with new hires so as to help them settle in and also guide their expectations.
It also serves as a form of feedback for me.

So after going through their reports, I asked for the challenges. One of them told me she's getting more 'nos' than 'yes'. She's very new to sales. I decided to teach her about the law of Tithes.
I asked if she understood the concept of Tithes and she answered in the affirmative- you give 10% of your income. I broke it down to her. That's 1 out of 10.
The law of Tithes in sales means that for you to get 1 customer, you must talk to 10 customers. For you to get 2 clients, you must have a pool of 20. For you to close 3 deals, work on a potential 30. The more deals or transactions you work on, the higher your rate of success
This has been my guidepost in sales especially.

I expect a minimum of 1 yes from a pool of 10 prospects. If I get more than 1, I consider it a bonus. If I expect a higher rate of positive response, I must of necessity increase or widen my customer base.
This is true of everything we do in life. The more doors you knock, the more doors you get opened. The fewer you knock, the fewer that are opened to you. You want to succeed? Knock more doors.
