SO let’s run with the sentiment I expressed here and apply it to this extremely bad-faith response to my tweet : https://twitter.com/klausnkrieg/status/1295818595163938822
right off the bat we have dukat stans equating the fixticious genocide w/ fictitious people trying to end the genocide-WITH THE REAL-LIFE INTENT of responding in the real-world to my real-life expressions abt how we should be careful of how we view/examine/interact with media.
this precisely is the point : this person took something from their imagined realm and turned it into a material action with material consequences and material weight. in their imaginations, kira is just as bad as dukat. in the real world, my expressed desire to be critical
becomes equivalent to not being critical. the way this person understands fiction is directly related to how this person understands & acts in reality.
MOVING ON, we ABSOLUTELY should be extremely critical of the bajoran liberation movement and how it was depicted by the writers and producers of Star Trek.
anybody who has ever even slightly examined liberation movements and revolutions and the works written by ppl involved in these SHOULD BE AWARE that terrorism is by and large condemned by revolutionists - especially by Marxists. unorganized, individualistic, nihilistic attempts
to just cause pain against oppressors or against People you don’t like are counterrevolutionary acts compared to the organized, collective struggle of the oppressed masses. there’s a reason lenin stressed “patient explanation of proletarian policy” in direct contradiction
to narodnik actions like bombing an office or shooting an important person, which ends up with the terrorist dead or in jail and with increased state repression of dissent.
the process of struggle includes but is not limited to: the collective political self-education of all exploited masses , the development of expressing our economic frustrations into a demand for political power, political sovereignty, and political self-determination , and
by trying to achieve these things via consciously shedding our biases against other working class people and forming a united bloc where our struggle & collective need for solidarity dismantles our individual prejudices re: race, gender, sexuality, ability, etc. WHILE ALSO
socially dismantling the systems that exacerbate these prejudices & use them against us , for a world free of exploitation and subjugation. Terrorism does not achieve this and every single serious marxist/revolutionary knows this.
With regards to kira , understanding her simply as a terrorist is . just lazy. Understanding the bajoran revolution as terrorism is also just . so lazy. I’m saying this to the writers/producers as well as fans. Clearly oppressed masses of people engaged in collective struggle
and weren’t just bombing restaurants or whatever. Star Trek itself did a disservice by labeling the revolutionaries as terrorists and having them self-identify as terrorists. You could make a BIG big stretch and say bajoran revolutionaries adopted that term ironically
but there isn’t really anything in-universe to make that case imo.
But, we shouldn’t expect giant capitalist media companies to accurately spoon-feed us any “revolution how-to’s “ or “liberation movement do’s and dont’s “ . we have to engage critically

also to the point abt osama bin laden ? that would only be a good comparison of Kira was funded by the Cardassians in a proxy - war decades before the bajoran revolution ? their bad understanding of fictitious politics and their bad understanding of real world history is . wow
