Why Connie Springer is an amazing character with really good writing
Connie is often seen as comedic relief or just the best friend of Sasha, the more popular comedic relief character but his his characterization and unique personality is usually overlooked
Connie comes from the small village of Ragako which was titanized by Zeke. May not be as tragic of a backstory as most of the others nevertheless, his entire family is dead and unlike the rest, he’s unable to move forward bc his mom is still alive as a titan
Connie has been shown to have the most dynamics with most of the named 104th. In short he doesn’t stick to being around one character. This solidifies him as the one of the most sociable, friendliest and caring character
His personality revolves around teamwork and wanting to grow alongside his friends. That’s why he took the betrayal of Reiner and Bertholdt the hardest and he’s the most hurt from having to fight his friends.
Like the rest of the non-shifters, he feels powerless and hates that he can’t do much to protect his loved ones so he exhibits his frustration through anger and irrational actions
He has arguably the strongest moral compass of the alliance so far. Unlike some of his comrades he doesn’t believe in killing at all even if it’s for the right motives and he’s driven by his mother’s wishes of being a just soldier
Nobody’s hurting like him
His strength is seriously overlooked. He finished 8th of his class, has been involved in EVERY arc of the show, was among the heroes of Shiganshina and has been said to be really quick with maneuvre gear. His survival isn’t by chance but by his skill
His realism is second only to Jean and his actions are rarely self-centered. His story ending without him finding peace about his lost village or his family would be a highly missed opportunity
