Our priorities are safety, quality and equity.
Safety, we will be guided by the science and data, just like we have throughout this pandemic.

We will not bring students or staff into buildings that are not safe. We are working every day to make those buildings safe and in line with every public health guideline.
Equity, we are putting the needs of our most vulnerable students at the center of all our planning:
Students experiencing poverty, hunger, and homelessness, students learning English, students with disabilities, students suffering the impacts of systemic racism, which leads to significant opportunity and achievement gaps.
Quality, the Superintendent, school leaders, and teachers have been working hard—and working together—to make all the learning options high-quality.
Community input has shaped every step of planning.

@BostonSchools held 30 virtual public meetings, with over 2,000 participants. They’ve done surveys and held conversations, taken feedback and answered questions.
For the latest draft, BPS worked with the Boston Teachers Union in task forces made up of teachers, school leaders, and central office leaders. They are working together on key issues.
We’re going to keep working together. We continue to coordinate with childcare and afterschool programs. As the Superintendent says, this is an all-hands-on-deck moment.
We are going to continue to listen to feedback and keep you updated every step of the way. We have to continue to work collectively together.
