When people say "What, we can't even have Susan B. Anthony anymore?" - no, you CAN, you just can't pretend you don't know the fullness of who she was. You got fed a lot of bullshit about a lot of so-called heroes growing up, and now comes the medicine.
You can have anybody you want to. Have some Columbus, as a little treat (gross, hard pass, but you do you). Just know who and what they were, and don't be so frenetically, desperately, sadly attached to what your third grade teacher taught you.
You don't have to cancel anybody you don't want to cancel. You love who you love. If it's Susan B. Anthony, that's fine for you. But know these people. Know them, even in history. Know who you love.
