I’m going to be very frank

It is very hard to believe that our schools will open & stay open in two weeks

Our R number is going up, the opposite to what we need in order to allow for the uptick seen with opening as well articulated by @TJRyan_77

Our track & trace is NOT (1)
(2) where it needs to be for us to be able to keep pace & shut down clusters as they occur to enable us to stay open & avoid sustained community transmission

I don’t know why this is the case but it is

When I hear excellent committed colleagues like @marietcasey say that they
(3) are having trouble getting the necessary staff redeployed as needed that makes me feel very frustrated

Everything depends on our ability to isolate, test, treat, trace, repeat

And yes of course it highlights how sustainable investment in public health is vital
(4) we did so well in round one because of incredible social cohesion & essential workers who moved mountains

Going forwards the public deserve clarity of communication & essential staff need to know that sustainable staffing & capacity solutions are happening: no more talk
(5) implementation

And finally we need to seriously talk about @ZeroCOVIDIsland because the current confusion, mixed messages & lack of governmental unity is undermining public confidence
(6) it’s going to be a a Winter like no other

It’s time to get the #TeamHealth strategy clear in both content & comms so that as a society we can pull together for the best outcome possible
(7) closing down the country was “easier” than the messy complex process of reopening a country that has such limited acute hospital capacity

So as we face into the Winter

Let’s learn from round 1 & deliver especially for our most vulnerable, this Winter
